Fandom: Marvel movies, specifically: Captain America: the First Avenger
Canon Point: Just after he falls from the train in Switzerland

Class A: 315 years

GRAND TOTAL: 473 years, 2 months

History: http://marvel-movies.wikia.com/wiki/James_Barnes
Personality:
In a few words, Bucky Barnes is the best not-biological little brother someone like Steve Rogers could have. In a way, he has definitely influenced his personality, if only because he’s known him for as long as he can remember. As a result, they both share an extreme dislike of bullies and folks who like to pick on people just because they can. Bucky has a tendency to be independent and very stubborn -- if things aren’t going how he wants them to, he’ll go his own way -- but balanced with that is some fierce loyalty. He will gladly go to hell and back for his country and his friends -- and he has, multiple times. If there’s any way he can take care of them, even at the expense of himself, he absolutely will do it. He believes in freedom, and justice, and all that great stuff, and will happily admit that his best role model is one Steve Rogers. He definitely has a degree of irreverence and flirtatiousness, though sometimes it’s mostly an act.
He is extremely persistent, which sort of goes hand in hand with the stubbornness. Cleverness and persistence combined make him a target that is very difficult to catch -- he learns quickly and well, and is very serious when it comes to his work. Back when he was younger, he used to be very open about his feelings -- they’d show plainly on his face, he wouldn’t give a damn about covering them up. He plays things close to the chest now, though it is mostly unintentional -- but it’s a habit he’s gotten used to, in any case.
As stated, Bucky tends to have a certain dry sense of humor, given to making stupid jokes about things to cut tension and usually to avoid awkward situations. But he's also extremely serious, when he has to be. In certain situations -- mainly, the war, he can put aside the cheerful snarky guy and be absolutely professional. If he considers it necessary to his duty, to the job he's doing, he will do it, no matter how distasteful he'd normally find it. It's why he enlisted and why he'll fight, to do his duty and protect the little guy. This, of course, extends to the people he's working with. He will fight to keep them safe no matter what kind of horrible things are thrown at them, and has -- or had, when he was younger, a bit of a tendency to rush into dangerous situations without exactly thinking about the consequences.
As for being in Teleios -- well, he will certainly admit he’s done bad things. For the most part, they are in the service of his country, or protecting someone he cares about. He won’t be terribly enthusiastic about having to pay a debt, but he’ll do it, if it means he gets to go back to Steve and the rest of them. He will likely regard Teleios with some healthy skepticism. Sure, he learned about purgatory and all that stuff at the orphanage, but he never really put much stock in it. As far as he knows, he’s supposed to be dead; so for the moment, he’ll take what he can get.
Powers/Abilities: He’s damn good at hand to hand combat and martial arts, specifically in the use of firearms and grenades. The army also trained him in the use of throwing knives and as an advance scout, doing the dirty work Captain America couldn’t exactly do. He speaks English, mostly, though he can understand some German, French, and Russian. Otherwise, he’s your general 1940s guy, with all the training that befits a young man serving in the army.
Appearance: Sebastian Stan. Otherwise known as this dashing young gentleman.
Actionspam Sample:
[This is certainly not what he expected from death. Or, more precisely, from falling off a train. It didn’t look like anything familiar, except perhaps what he’d seen in books, before -- but he was alive. That was good enough for him, at the moment. So what if he felt a little battered and bruised? Pain meant he was around to feel it, and he could figure out the rest as it came. So he straightened up a bit, trying to catch the attention of the first person to pass by.]
I don’t suppose you know where we’ve ended up? I can’t say I mind it all that much, but an explanation would sure be nice.
Prose Sample:
Right. So he wasn’t dead. That was something he was perfectly alright with, never having to face the freezing cold waters of an icy river in Switzerland. Even so, it was a bit of a shock, to suddenly be in a big building when the last he remembered, he’d been falling from a train. This place looked at least a little safer than what he’d grown accustomed to, lately, but you could never be too careful. Bucky chanced a glance around -- other apparent new arrivals, no one familiar, all looking as confused as he did. They would be no help.
Maybe there would be more answers behind that door, or at least people who could answer them. If he’d had something to hand other than a handgun, a few knives, he would have broken it down. (Though on second thought, maybe that wasn’t the best idea, upon arriving in a new and strange place.) He sighed to himself, then decided to at least attempt to make himself look presentable. It would give him something to do, at least, aside from ponder whatever this was. If it was some sort of strange afterlife, weren’t there supposed to be angels, or the Pearly Gates, or something like that?

The Character
Name: James ‘Bucky’ Buchanan Barnes
Age/Birthdate: 26-ish / March 20, 1922.
Species: Human
*Type: Wanderer
Canon: Captain America movie (mostly)
*Pre-existing powers: - He’s damn good at hand to hand combat and martial arts, specifically in the use of firearms and grenades. The army also trained him in the use of throwing knives and as an advance scout -- and his time as the Winter Soldier just increased his skill with guns and the like. He’s an expert assassin and spy, thanks to Russia. He can also speak a variety of languages -- English, Spanish, and Russian, to name a few. His left arm is also superstrong, due to the fact that it’s cybernetic.
*Rift Change, if applicable: His cybernetic (left) arm will be capable of producing EMPs!

Played By: Sebastian Stan

Appearance: Bucky is a reasonably tall, dark-haired young man. His hair is -- medium length, it used to be much shorter in his army days, for obvious reasons, but with the being stuck in stasis for the past 70 years or so, it’s grown some. He is muscular and kind of wiry, though growing out of it some as he gets older. His left arm is cybernetic, replaced by the Russians after they found him at the bottom of the gorge he fell into. It’s big, and kind of clunky looking and silver -- and has a big red star painted on the shoulder joint. He tends to wear dark colors, primarily blues, grays, or blacks -- with one arm cut off, for obvious reasons, and is somewhat less old-fashioned of a dresser than Stevie.
Personality: In a few words, Bucky Barnes is the best not-biological little brother someone like Stevie Rogers could have. In a way, she has definitely influenced his personality, if only because he’s known her for longer than he can remember. As a result, they both share an extreme dislike of bullies and folks who like to pick on people just because they can. If there’s any way he can take care of them, even at the expense of himself, he absolutely will do it. He believes in freedom, and justice, and all that great stuff, and will happily admit that his best role model is one Stephanie Rogers. He definitely has a degree of irreverence and flirtatiousness, though sometimes it’s mostly an act. He knows what he’s doing when it comes to acting, most of the time, which is another point that made him an extremely efficient spy.
He is extremely persistent, which sort of goes hand in hand with the stubbornness. Cleverness and persistence combined make him a target that is very difficult to catch -- he learns quickly and well, and is very serious when it comes to his work. This holds true even as the Winter Soldier -- at various points he is described as an impossible to catch ghost.
Back when he was younger, he used to be very open about his feelings -- they’d show plainly on his face, he wouldn’t give a damn about covering them up. Since becoming Winter Soldier, things have rather obviously changed. He is moody, for reasons that he cannot explain, and has basically had any outward emotional response programmed out of him. He is entirely loyal to Russia, generally a good soldier -- but if he's been out of stasis too long, some things slip. He becomes more violent in terms of his handlers, unpredictable. He is kept on too short of a leash and resents it, but generally obeys orders. Unless it's for special circumstances; such as certain red-headed spies, and sometimes ending up in familiar places. Flashes of the old Bucky start to come through, though he does not remember them all too well after the fact. He plays things close to the chest now, though it is mostly unintentional -- but it’s a habit he’s gotten used to, in any case.
History: Basically, his history’s the same as comics Bucky, except it starts out as it did in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Bucky and Stevie were childhood best friends, Bucky enlisted, Stevie followed and eventually rescued him, and then he fell off a train, where he landed in a gorge and was picked up by some Russians who presumed him to be dead. Insert the Winter Soldier storyline here, at least up until just before he’s found (and sort of fixed) by Captain America and Sharon Carter.
Events: -When Steve showed up in Italy and rescued him. It was confusing and somewhat shocking, yes, but it felt right somehow, him and Stevie fighting for their country together. Bucky knew he'd do anything for her, just as he always had at home. He'd follow that girl from Brooklyn anywhere.
- His fall from the train in the Alps. It changed his life forever, and not exactly in a good way. There were some benefits - he survived, for one, and he met Natalia. He's still not sure if that makes up for being a terrifying assassin for most of the last seventy years, though.
Writing Sample:
"I thought you were smaller."
It was all Bucky could say as he slowly, painfully, got up from the table they had had him strapped on. Stevie had been smaller, hadn't she? Or was that just thoughts filtering through the pain-filled haze of his brain? It seemed like he had been on that table for days. For all he knew, he might have.
But even so, he couldn't help but give the woman helping him up a small, shaky smile. Stevie was here. He didn't know how yet, he didn't know why; but she was here and they would get out of here together. They always did. It was a bit funny, how he was leaning on her now instead of the other way around. Almost enough to make him laugh, if it didn't hurt to move so much.
Speaking of -- "Did it hurt?" He asked, jogging a bit awkwardly behind the suddenly much taller woman in front of him. "No," came the quick answer, and Bucky couldn't help but smile. She was still the same big sister he'd known for a good three-quarters of his life. It was a relief to know that hadn't changed, even if she was -- well, in Italy, carrying a shield, and behind enemy lines. That would take a bit of getting used to, and he'd find out more along the way. For now, they had to get out. He'd gladly follow Steve Rogers anywhere, through hell and back -- and he might have to, now. But it would be alright. She would have his back, and he would have hers. Just like always.
