PERSONALITY: In a few words, Bucky Barnes is the best not-biological little brother someone like Steve Rogers could have. In a way, Steve has definitely influenced his personality, if only because he’s known him for as long as he can remember. As a result, they both share an extreme dislike of bullies and folks who like to pick on people just because they can. Bucky has a tendency to be independent and very stubborn -- if things aren’t going how he wants them to, he’ll go his own way -- but balanced with that is some fierce loyalty. He will gladly go to hell and back for his country and his friends -- and he has, multiple times. If there’s any way he can take care of them, even at the expense of himself, he absolutely will do it. He believes in freedom, and justice, and all that great stuff, and will happily admit that his best role model is one Steve Rogers. He definitely has a degree of irreverence and flirtatiousness, though sometimes it’s mostly an act.

He is extremely persistent, which sort of goes hand in hand with the stubbornness. Cleverness and persistence combined make him a target that is very difficult to catch -- he learns quickly and well, and is very serious when it comes to his work. Back when he was younger, he used to be very open about his feelings -- they’d show plainly on his face, he wouldn’t give a damn about covering them up. He plays things close to the chest now, though it is mostly unintentional -- but it’s a habit he’s gotten used to, in any case.

As stated, Bucky tends to have a certain dry sense of humor, given to making stupid jokes about things to cut tension and usually to avoid awkward situations. But he's also extremely serious, when he has to be. In certain situations -- mainly, the war, he can put aside the cheerful snarky guy and be absolutely professional. If he considers it necessary to his duty, to the job he's doing, he will do it, no matter how distasteful he'd normally find it. It's why he enlisted and why he'll fight, to do his duty and protect the little guy. This, of course, extends to the people he's working with. He will fight to keep them safe no matter what kind of horrible things are thrown at them, and has -- or had, when he was younger, a bit of a tendency to rush into dangerous situations without exactly thinking about the consequences.

He’s still all that once The Winter Soldier canon comes into play, but now it’s touched with a whole lot more confusion and guilt. Due to the brainwashing, he’s got to basically learn how to function in normal society again. For the past seventy years, Bucky has known very little of his past, save what happens in memories or nightmares or random triggering events. And then those are wiped again. He doesn't know who he is or where he's from, he just knows that he is a weapon, and he is a good one. If he does his job well, he doesn't get wiped, he doesn't get stuck in cryo. He doesn't get pain. So he does his job, and he does it terrifyingly well. He is a perfect weapon. (Except for the broken parts. Thanks, Steve.) He’ll be definitely confused and uncertain upon his arrival, but loath to hurt people unless he deems it necessary. He probably won’t, but he’s continuing to learn how to be a proper human again --and how to adjust to the 21st century in a particularly unique way.

CANON POWERS: Enhanced strength, speed, etc, all the stuff that comes with being a super-soldier and having been experimented on for a while. He has a big freakin metal arm that can be used as a baseball bat, sometimes, or for other things like ripping the roofs off cars. Also general arm stuff, probably. He is also trained as an assassin, and is proficient in many different types of weapons. Guns and knives are the big ones.
